The BE enhancement that set the default setting to an opt-out increased the proportion of mothers being enrolled to receive the TTYB and supplement text messages by 87.7 percentage points.

  • When mothers are automatically enrolled into receiving early learning and language information via texts, subsequent opt-out is low (~11 percent).
  • Left to their own decision making, very few mothers “opt-in” to free and publicly available early language and literacy initiative (~1 percent).
